Vic Champs Update
SA Champs Coming Up

Aresti Spoken Here!

2016 Vic Champs

Well for those of you not there, you missed out on a fantastic comp with 26 entries ( only three less than the Nationals) spread over all 7 categories ( Entry, Graduate, Sportsman, Intermediate AUS, Intermediate CIVA, Advanced and Unlimited) resulting in 73 aerobatic sequences over three days, with plenty of time to spare, even with a storm or two. Congratulations to all the competitors ( http://wp.aerobaticsaustralia.com.au/results/Victoria%202016/indexpage.htm ) , judges and support crew, who all had a great time despite some hottish conditions.

A dedicated judging line consisting of Jeremy Miller (Chief), Simon Stone, Peter Pendergast, Phil Unicomb and myself, resulted in some very efficient operations as well as excellent judging rating indices. Jeremy and myself with significant input from Di Stone and Dita Naz,managed to get the scoring tent up and running, without mishap , and with scores coming out as quick as ever. Di’s entering of scores on Jeremy’s laptop in a hot bus while out on the judging line enabled judging sheets to be processed in record time. WELL DONE TEAM!!

Thanks also to Peter Townsend who coordinated extremely well with Jeremy in many of the logistics of running an aerobatic competition. And we can’t forget young Charles Greatrex who liaised with the council and Murray Border Flying Club, as well as controlling the Q store with all the wonderful equipment that is required to put on competitions with seriously high standards. And thanks also to another youngster, Alan Harding (Courtesy of the  Temora Aero Club) who, as starter, kept the ball rolling and was instrumental in launching up to as many as 34 flights in a day.

Bravo to our 2016 Victorian Champion Brad Mulcahy  and also to the other winners Peter Townsend (Advanced), Trent Stewart ( Intermediate CIVA), Russell Banks (Intermediate AUS), Moray Clowes (Sportsman), Nathan McMillan (Graduate) and Finley Lewis (Entry).

Remember our Nationals are going to be held at Tocumwal this year (Nov  2-6), so we get to do it all again, but only BIGGER!.

AGM

In accordance with our fiduciary duties, one of these was conducted at the VicChamps, and it was a lot of fun!
Welcome to our new committee members Brad and Cass, both of  whom are an integral part of Australian Competition Aerobatics, so there input into AAC policy will no doubt be relevant, insightful and effective.

Thanks to outgoing members Greg McConnell and Jo Freeman, whose contribution to the AAC has been well documented and appreciated over several years. Greg can now spend just a little more time building his six cylinder fire breathing rocket ship that will see him take out the National Championship in the near future. Jo, on the other hand, will no doubt be continuing to enjoy her passion for traveling, but without the encumbrance of  a contest scoring shed……..We will miss her!!

Our erstwhile Treasurer/Secretary The Honourable Martyn Woodhouse esq. was present in an existentialist sort of way, thanks to the miracle a of video conferencing link, courtesy of Charlie Greatrex and his magical IT powers. Martyn’s thorough presentation demonstrated he his a very busy man crossing and dotting on behalf of the AAC and that we truly will be forever in his debt….Thanks Martini, the cheque is in the mail!

2016 SA Champs .

April 6-10 will see the Fifth SA Championship being again held at one of the most picturesque competition sites in Australia…Murray Bridge. SA President Simon Stone and his team will no doubt again host an aerobatic competition of superb quality, thanks to  Miller/Townsend productions.

Its the accommodation that really turns this comp into one of the most socially memorable, given that we all get to stay together on the banks of the Murray River in amazing holiday houses, enjoying sumptuous barbecue dinners, a spot of water skiing, hot spas and the occasional alcoholic beverage or twelve ! In fact unflyable weather is often welcomed at the SA Champs.

Get your info and Entry at ; http://wp.aerobaticsaustralia.com.au/competitions/entry-forms/
But first you must lock in your riverside accomm with Jesse Jury info@jurytiling.com.au 0422 816 242, for the river experience of a lifetime.

Looking forward to catching up with many of you at Murray Bridge.

Bye for now.
